Project Details

To celebrate the reopening of Burger King Leicester Square, the Burger King for Good Art Prize called upon London-based creatives to submit artwork that positively and creatively responded to Burger King’s for Good charter and their commitments to support planet, people, communities, and guests. The competition was open to all and welcomed participation from professional artists, amateurs, students or simply those who wanted to give it a go and get creative.

Prize was organised by Validarte. Coordinated the prize from start to finish, from advertising the Open Call Out, writing all entry requirements and guidelines according to Burger King’s specifications, to  taking as well as and judging all the submissions.

The winner of the Prize was granted prime wall space to showcase their artwork at BKUK’s flagship restaurant in Leicester Square which welcomes visitors from all around the world.

Outcomes

The response we received was very positive with a lot of variety which made it very difficult for us to choose the winner. The prize was awarded to Susheel Bara for his digital artwork ‘Many Hearts One Community. We were extremely impressed by his imaginative response to the theme as well as the quality of the work itself.

Susheel Bara is a graphic designer based in South London whose speciality is experimenting with typography and colour. He has won other public art commissions such as Vauxhaull One’s ‘Art in the Arches’ public callout, under the theme ‘Love Different, Love Vauxhall’.

In Susheel’s words: “The piece ‘Many Hearts One Community’ reflects how everyone from different backgrounds come together, celebrating the joy of acceptance. The piece portrays the area of South London I am living in with the diverse values how everyone respects and adheres to one another. During difficult times the people around me helping each other and making sure we people are cared for and this is what makes a great community.”
